UVA Bavaro Hall

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Client: Donley's LLC
Architect: Robert A. M. Stern Architects

Manganaro Midatlantic’s award winning masonry projects include the 65,000 square foot Bavaro Hall at the University of Virginia.  Meeting the challenge of creating a brand new facade that blended seamlessly into the historic character of the University as envisioned by Thomas Jefferson more than two centuries ago was no small feat.  Manganaro craftspeople combined historic techniques such as the use of the Flemish bond pattern with modern ideas including the steel supported jack arches that line the courtyard and windows.  Among the impressive details are towering, circular brick columns and traditional brick colonnades.
