PROJECT:
Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center General Contractor: Whiting Turner/Smoot Joint Venture Soaring twin four-story atria are the visual focal points for the center housing the Johns Hopkins Hospital focus point in the fight against cancer. This project, completed in 1999, has five stories above ground, two below ground level, and is the size of a large city block. Manganaro provided all interior framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, veneer plaster, GFRG column covers, and vaulted ceilings. Manganaro erected extensive interior scaffolding for the atria for our own work as well as for use by other trades. Completed simultaneously with this project a block away, was a ten-story laboratory building constructed to house the cancer research efforts of the Johns Hopkins University. Manganaro provided the exterior metal framing and sheathing as well as the drywall and acoustical work on this building. FEATURED PROJECT:
General Contractor: Turner Construction Company Completed in 2000, this project laid the cornerstone for health care in Harford County going into the 21st century, consolidating the operations of two older hospitals. The project is comprised of a four-story full-service hospital building, a five-story outpatient care building, a separate utility building, and a two-story atrium rotunda serving as the main lobby. Manganaro was responsible for the complete exterior skin including structural metal framing, sheathing, decorative brick facade, and EIFS cornices. Manganaro also provided the acoustical ceilings, lead-shielding for the x-ray center, and cast stone accents at the exterior. The rotunda building has extensive drywall bulkheads, beam wraps, and two-story columns.
