Museum of the Bible Recognized for Excellence
Beltsville, MD Monday September 17, 2018: Manganaro Midatlantic, LLC is proud to announce that it has once again won the Excellence in Construction Award from the Metro Washington and Virginia Chapters of Associated Builders and Contractors for the drywall and acoustical ceilings at the Museum of the Bible. This is the eighth time in the past ten years that Manganaro has been selected by its peers as having the most outstanding drywall project in the region.
The 430,000 square foot museum presented all the challenges that face a drywall and acoustical contractor. An urban site, tight schedule and complicated scope of work were just the beginning of these challenges. Extremely important to the successful use of the gallery spaces was the control of sound throughout. The Manganaro team worked with the general contractor and acoustical engineers to design and install a combination of insulation, vibration isolating hangers and acoustical plaster that met the project goals for sound suppression.
A combination of new construction and the adaptive reuse of an older structure, the museum is one of the most technologically advanced in the world. Of particular interest is the World Stage, where Manganaro built a series of curved and canted “ribbons” out of metal framing and drywall. These ribbons act as projection screens, allowing stunning multi-media presentations that can give the audience the feeling of being surrounded by the scenery of biblical times. The technological challenge of building these flowing surfaces from hard materials like steel and gypsum can be seen up close in the video found on the home page of our web site at www.www.manganaro.com.
