The new 234,000 square foot hospital was opened in December, 2015. It includes 124 all-private rooms and full service, 24/7 emergency room, surgical, labor & delivery, pediatric and intensive care services. In addition, a 100,000 square foot medical office building was constructed on the 51-acre site near Dulles Airport.
Manganaro Midatlantic, LLC performed the complete masonry scope as well as the drywall and acoustical ceiling packages for both the hospital and MOB. Unique to this project was the off-site construction of the patient room baths. Working along with mechanical contractor Shapiro & Duncan, MMA mechanics built the bathroom units in a nearby warehouse prior to the structure being ready to receive them. At the appropriate time, the pre-fabbed baths were trucked to the site and moved into place for final connection and finishing. The result was a significant savings in schedule time.
As with all hospital projects, the coordination between MEP and wall and ceiling construction was challenging. Patient head walls, with the many outlets and fixtures required in a modern hospital presented a difficult coordination challenge. Along with a fine team of MEP subs, MMA tackled this difficult challenge effectively.Back to Projects
